Onyx
Hull: Moa Class

Role: Heavy Interdictor

Effectively combining the trapping power of interdictors with the defensive capabilities of heavy assault ships, the heavy interdictor is an invaluable addition to any skirmish force, offensive or defensive. Heavy interdictors are the only ships able to use the warp disruption field generator, a module which creates a warp disruption field that moves with the origin ship wherever it goes.

Developer: Kaalakiota

As befits one of the largest weapons manufacturers in the known world, Kaalakiota’s ships are very combat focused. Favoring the traditional Caldari combat strategy, they are designed around a substantial number of weapons systems, especially missile launchers. However, they have rather weak armor and structure, relying more on shields for protection.

[edit] Overview

The Caldari Heavy Interdictor. This nigger has a big fat EM resist hole in the shields which means you need at least one EM shield hardener in order to not get face-raped by the nearest Amarr faggot with half a brain stem. Stack Invulnerability fields and shield extenders to balance out your tank.

Heavy Interdictor skill levels and warp disruption field generator ranges:

1: 16.8km range

2: 17.6km range

3: 18.4km range

4: 19.2km range

5: 20km range

[edit] Bonuses

Caldari Cruiser Skill Bonus
  • 5% bonus to Kinetic missile damage per level
  • 5% bonus to shield resistances per level
Heavy interdictor skill bonus
  • 5% bonus to heavy/heavy assault missile velocity per level
  • 5% bonus to range of Warp Disruption Fields per level
  • Role bonus: 99% reduction of CPU need of Warp Disruption Field Generators

[edit] Fittings

Hint: passive shield tanks benefit greatly from hardwirings. For example, a set of: KUA1000, KVA1000 and KYA1000 will improve passive tank/fitting reqs for under 9m ISK

Pretty standard t2 passive tank here. Tanks about 707 uniform DPS, which is somewhere between Nighthawk and a Vulture but with sub-Nighthawk damage output. Since the WDFG currently doesn't agress you at gates, should let you tank more than long enough to jump out if needed. You will also need decent capacitor skills to perma run this setup as the WDFG and the hardeners eat up a lot of cap, and the SPR gimps your cap recharge. IV/IV should run for well above 5 minutes. V/IV will let you run all the hardeners and the WDFG permanently.

The Destroyer class dictors may be solo rape boats, but the heavy dictor is a suport ship, if you don't like this, don't train for it. There is no way to make it a super solo boat (unless you go for the Broadsword).

The new dictors are all about running the bubble.. and although Shield power relays give it a nice tank, they take away from the ship's primary function... what's the point of bubbling a titan if you run out of cap? With 4 PDS in lows you can perma run everything and it gives you crazy shields.

Purger rigs match better with power relays, extender rigs match better with PDS stacking... with extenders and level 5 skills you can break 22k shield hp easy, and with 76EM resist and the rest 80+, this ship lives -f o r e v e r-

edit: Removed 1x PDS and added a Damage Control II for the higher effective HPs.

edit: Replaced the PDS, adding a DCU will gimp your shield tank and get you killed quicker.

edit: Replaced the DCU, an extra 12k effective hp is probably worth losing 2 dps worth of passive tank.

This setup will give you insane perma tank; 82/93/90/83 resists, almost 19K shields & 150,000K+ uniform EHP with perma bubble. Do not use a MWD as it gimps cap and if you can't use it while bubbling, so its pointless. If you are in a fleet with a good FC you should not have to worry about getting camped at a gate either so a MWD is stupid. Also pushes out 250 dps, while not very exciting, it makes the onyx a strong competitor against the Broadsword. Use HAM's, because anyone that gets outside your bubble will warp off most of the time, so you want to inflict maximum DPS while they are in your bubble. Use hardwiring to increase tank further.

Great for solo or small gang work (yes this ship CAN solo!) but you may have to pick your targets if you go solo. Its more of a HAC setup than HIC. Pushes out over 400 DPS with good skills and a pretty insane tank but the faction web is a must! Cap will last even with focus script. If you find that you have bitten off more than you can chew, drop your bubble. You can easily last enough time to get through the gate. Such a small sig radius and heavy tank make this a difficult ship to kill, especially 1 vs 1. May be very useful for killing ratters, but still has to be tested for this. Being able to choose your damage type makes this a great ship and VERY under rated. Again, use HAM's, because anyone that gets outside your bubble will warp off most of the time, so you want to inflict maximum DPS while they are in your bubble. The beauty of this ships is that nobody expects the DPS and will engage you. By the time they realise their ship is going down and your tank is still standing, its usually too late for them to get out of the bubble.

May need PG4 and zainou 'Deadeye' hardwiring to improve power grid and dps.
