Falcon
Name: Falcon

Hull: Blackbird

Role: Force Recon Ship

Force recon ships are the cruiser-class equivalent of covert ops frigates. While not as resilient as combat recon ships, they are nonetheless able to do their job as reconaissance vessels very effectively, due in no small part to their ability to interface with covert ops cloaking devices and set up cynosural fields for incoming capital ships.

Developer: Ishukone

Most of the recent designs off their assembly line have provided for a combination that the Ishukone name is becoming known for: great long-range capabilities and shield systems unmatched anywhere else.

[edit] Overview

The Falcon is the Caldari Force Recon; essentially an amped up, Covert Ops-cloaking Blackbird with significantly higher jam strength.

Alone, the Falcon is weak and incapable, but in a well-rounded gang of five to fifty it can be the single greatest force multiplier, able to shut down two to five ships completely. Do not fly a Falcon if you like doing damage and appearing high on killmails; do fly a Falcon if you enjoy infuriating and cock-blocking your targets.

Fitting weapons on your Falcon is ill-advised, as there are more generally useful modules to put in your high slots and the powergrid needed to fit weapons is better used for fitting a plate in a low slot. Adding 50-70dps is not ever worth risking the safety of your ship since by doing so you generally have to give up approximately 60% of your EHP. Always be aligned, and don't wait until something is shooting you to warp off and cloak - get out the moment you're locked up and miss a jam.

[edit] Bonuses

Caldari Cruiser Skill Bonus Per Level
  • 5% Bonus to Medium Hybrid Damage Per Level
  • 10% Bonus to ECM Target Jammer capacitor use per level
Recon Ships Skill Bonus Per Level
  • 30% bonus to ECM Target Jammer strength per level
  • 96% to -100% reduction in Cloaking Device CPU use per levele
Role Bonus Per Level
  • 80% reduction in liquid ozone consumption for cynosural field generation
  • 50% reduction in cynosural field duration

Note: can fit covert cynosural field generators

[edit] Fittings

The Rules of ECM
  • Never use Ewar on the Primary.
  • Target a hostile whose name is closest to yours alphabetically.
  • ECM is used on Logistics/HACs/Battleships.
  • ALWAYS have an overview that focuses on your Ewar target class only.

[edit] Post-nerf Falcon

Hi
1x Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
3x Wildcard (Mix/Match from: Probe Launcher, Cyno Generator, Remote Armor/Hull Rep or Weapon System of Choice)
Mid
1x 10mn MWD II (do fit t2, it affects your warp range)
6x Jammers
Low
2x Signal Distortion Amplifier II
1x 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Rigs (optional)
1x Particle Dispersion Projector I
1x Particle Dispersion Augmentor I

This has ehp and lots of jammers. Doesn't have any useless shit like sensor boosters or 4x stacked range/strength modules. Train warp drive operation and energy management up so you can actually warp places with a 1600 fit.

Damage Control II
2 x Signal Distortion Amplifier II
Rigs
Medium Particle Dispersion Augmentor I
Medium Particle Dispersion Projector I
Drones
2 x Warrior II

No need for a second LSE because you need to get the fuck out if you get targeted. The Caldari ECM (Spatial Destabilizer) are doubled up because Caldari are the most difficult to jam and you want to be able to double up on any Falcons that you may face.

Falcons aren't as great as they used to be when they could snipe at 200km but they are still the most welcome Recon ship in a black ops gang, this setup requires Recon Ships V unless you want to juggle turning your probe launcher on and off. Do not fit offensive modules in your utility high slots. Using LSEs over a 1600mm plate is down to personal preference, most people will quickly find that the plated Falcon aligns too slowly and caps out on longer warps meaning it can't keep up with a fast moving gang, plated Falcons are also much more vulnerable when jumping into a bubbled gate due to their lower top speed and greater align time.
