Developer: Thukker Mix It is unclear how Thukker Mix could master the intricacies of cloaking technology so quickly after the fall of Crielere. According to Professor Oggand Viftuin, head of R&D, the tribe managed to recruit some senior Caldari scientist that used to work on the Mirage Project at Crielere. Ishukone has denied this, claiming that the Thukkers aquired the technology from prototypes stolen by the Guristas. | ||

[edit] Overview
The Cheetah is the Minmatar Covert Ops frigate, and like the other covops frigates it's primarily used for three things: a) scouting, b) exploration, and c) transporting low-volume but high-value cargo; it's excellent in all of these roles. In fact the Cheetah is generally considered the best covops because it's by far the fastest of the bunch, making it ideal for getting warp-ins, sneaking out of bubble camps and just fagging around cloaked in general. Additionally the Cheetah has the biggest cargohold making it great for transporting lots of expensive stuff. On the other hand, the difference between the four racial covert ops frigates really isn't that significant when you consider the primary roles of the covops will be scouting and probing. That being said, when it comes to making warp-ins for fleets, the Cheetah is the undisputed king.
It used to look like a Vigil, but as of the Empyrean Age expansion it now looks like a Probe.

[edit] Microwarpdrive Gatecamp Running Cheetah
- Role
This Cheetah setup is made for running bubblecamps, in addition to still being able to probe enemies and aggress loggers. For covert ops, a microwarpdrive is highly recommended in any situation. Unfortunately fitting one is difficult due to limited grid, causing some ship fitters to lose their way and fit an Afterburner instead. The fitting given is for transporting your high-value goods in 0.0 and scouting for moving gangs, but you can adapt the setup to large PvP ops very easilly.
- High
- 1x Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
- 1x 125mm Gatling Autocannon II (Barrage S)
- 1x Expanded Probe Launcher I (OFFLINE)
- Mid
- 1x 1MN Microwarpdrive II
- 1x Small Capacitor Battery II
- 1x Cap Recharger II
- 1x Warp Disruptor II
- Low
- 1x Nanofiber Internal Structure II
- 1x Nanofiber Internal Structure II
- 1x Micro Auxiliary Power Core I
- Rigs
- 2x Small Gravity Capacitor Upgrade (decreases scan time, these are about 300k in empire)
- Implants (for the super-rich only)
- Anything that increases speed (Rogues) helps the setup but you don't need them; it's a matter of what you can afford to lose and :what you can afford to get stuck in your head. If you spend a lot of time probing you can plug in a Prospector PPH implant to reduce scan time.
- Skills
- All the skills to use CovOps and the CovOps Cloak
- Covert Ops II at least
- Electronics V
- Engineering V
- Energy Management IV
- You will have 0.25 Powergrid left with these skills and modules
- For the Warp Disruptor, the Cap Recharger, the Autocannon and even the MWD if necessary you can drop to best named if you are not skilled enough.
- Tactic
- Assign your microwarpdrive and your cloak right next to each other on the shortcut bar (I use f2 and f3). When you jump into an enemy dictor/bubblecamp, figure out the shortest route out of the bubble. Doubleclick in that direction then quickly hit the cloak and MWD buttons in that order. Warp off as soon as possible. - When warping in to gatecamps you do not want to decloak, so no MWD. Warp in on a different angle than your source gate (some gatecamps stick interceptors at the default warp-in) and fly towards the gate. If the gate is crowded you may just want to leave. - Using 2x Overdrive Injector Is in the lows for large PvP ops is an option. This will help in setting up warp-ins quicker.
- Weaknesses
Do not get cocky. You should still avoid gatecamps whenever possible. The recon probe launcher cannot be onlined without offlining a bunch of stuff. If you have Covert Ops V you only need to offline the MWD. If you have Covert Ops IV you can get away with offlining the MWD and the Warp Disruptor. If you have less than you'll have to offline your cloak and other mods.
- Strengths
It has a microwarpdrive. Afterburner CovOps suck because they are much easier to catch getting out of bubbles. This is not.

[edit] Fleet Cheetah
- High
- 1x Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
- 1x Expanded Probe Launcher I
- 1x Cynosural Field Generator (offline)
- Mid
- 1x Catalyzed Cold-gas I Arcjet Thrusters (best-named MWD)
- 1x Small/Micro Peroxide I Capacitor Power Cell (named small/micro cap battery, respectively)
- 2x Wildcard (Cap recharger(s), warp scram, ECM?)
- Low
- 1x Micro Auxiliary Power Core I
- 2x Local Hull Conversion Overdrive Injector I (lower cargo penalty than t2; lets you carry 350 ozone with two fitted)
- Rigs
- 2x Small Gravity Capacitor Upgrade
- Cargo
- Enough liquid ozone for one activation of the cyno
- Assorted scan probes of your choice
- Toothbrush (for extended operations)
- Notes
Fitting skills: You should be able to fly this (with empty wildcard mids) with Engineering V, Electronics V, Covert Ops IV and Energy Grid Upgrades III. You will also need Cynosural Field Theory III to be able to fit enough ozone for one cyno activation. If you drop the Overdrive II down to a named overdrive it only requires Cynosural Field Theory II.
With the T2 market crash, this is not so horrendously expensive as it used to be. In total, at the time of writing the entire setup will cost you about 30m at empire-ish prices, excluding scan probes (13m for the hull, 11m for the cloak, 2-3m for the speed mods, 2.5m for the cynogen, maybe 2m for the rest). That's pretty expensive for a glorified Probe, but on the plus side it's pretty hard to get it blown up if you're careful with it and fly it right. Get a dictor buddy and practice burning out of his gatecamp bubbles a few times so you get a feel for how it should be done before you start flying it seriously (because you will jump into gatecamps).
It's not horribly skill intensive either; the biggest problem is CPU since the cloak and the probe launcher together take 270tf at Covert Ops IV. If you plan on actually fitting anything in the wildcard mids, training Energy Grid Upgrades to IV is pretty much a requirement; (it's a useful skill anyway, lets you fit PDS II's among other things, and it's nowhere near as bad as training Covert Ops V) although another option would be using a micro cap battery instead of a small, which lowers your max warp distance a bit. I'd suggest fitting at least one cap recharger (preferably named; F-B10 are pretty good, not very expensive and takes the least CPU) for faster onlining/offlining. Presuming a small cap battery, that leaves you with 2.25 grid and very very little CPU to spare, so your choices for that last mid are pretty limited unless you train Covert Ops to V which is kind of a pain. On the other hand, if you do train it to V you can upgrade to the below Cadillac of Cheetahs setup which is pretty cool.
Not much else to say; it's just an attempt at a decent all-round fitting. Does about 500m/s cloaked with Navigation IV, >2.5km/s with the MWD on. With the small cap battery, can comfortably warp at least 100 AU with Warp Drive Operation IV. And best of all, you can HOT DROP capitals on any faggots you may encounter!

- Role
This fitting was primarily designed as a Titan scout used to setup and cyno in Doomsdays quickly. The primary feature is the ability to align fast combined with being fastest covops to use while cloaked so that you could burn to the perfect spot to DD the hostile fleet, but not yours. Even with area of effect doomsdays nerfed, this is still my preferred fit. You need to online/offline mods depending if your cyno is online or not.

This is for all you Covops V folks out there. Microwarpdrive past all the peons, unless you feel like stopping to ask them if they have any Grey Poupon while they are busy regenerating cap to online their probe launcher. Offlining and onlining lots of shit is for scrubs. The only real exception to this is a cyno gen, which is too heavy on requirements to online without significant effort.
To fit a gun or not to fit a gun: the only utility of a gun on a covops is for shooting pods and offline ships. If you have some yahoos you can warp in and kill shit for you this isn't a big deal, but ctrl-qs go fast and if you find yourself pod-probing a lot you will see the utility of a gun. However, a cyno is nice because it is cool to be the guy that pipes up when the FC says "does anyone have a cyno". Neither of these things will be things you will use all day if you mostly do recon, but gang work can demand either.
Double overdrives are deprecated on this setup, largely because with the speed nerf, nanofibers actually affect your cloaked velocity now and don't take up cargo space which you really need. You can squeeze some extra speed out with them, but not a whole lot more.
- Fitting note 1: If you you go with an offline cynogen you can upgrade the cap recharger to T2.
- Fitting note 2: Gravity Capacitor Upgrades (scan time rigs) are now like 300k and you should always have them on.

This fitting is intended for those folks who use an alt in a covert ops frigate to scan down encounters. Once the encounter has been scanned out, the alt can sit cloaked until spawns are cleared and can hack/salvage/analyze the site, freeing up your mid and high slots on your main for other things. While this fitting is not extremely skill intensive, it is a very tight fit. You will need a minimum of Covert Ops IV and Engineering IV (in EFT fits at 18/18 powergrid at Eng IV). At CovOps V the co-proc could be replaced with something more useful, and with some tweaking I think the setup could swing a MWD though I don't recommend it. Low modules (besides your co-proc) can be switched out for cargo expanders if you plan on being far away from stations for a long while, although I enjoy being able to align quickly in case you get vacuumed into the middle of an exploration site and decloaked.
Your rigs have two options (a third being no rigs at all), which you can pick based upon where you feel the most time will be saved. The gravity capacitors will have you scan out exploration sites a fair bit more quickly, and the Emission Scope/Memetic Algorithm will have you hacking and analyzing with a higher success rate. I have marked the Salvage Tackle as I'm not sure if it affects exploration salvaging due to the unusual wording on the module. In any case, the bonus is smaller and comes with a drawback so I do not recommend using it.
- Note: You will probably want Archaeology III, Hacking III, and Salvaging III minimum for this setup.
[edit] Probe/Tackle/Salvage Cheetah
If you hate turning off your MWD and other modules just to turn on the Probe Launcher this is the fit for you. After you are done killin 'em you can salvage the wreck with it too. I use this fitting for Blackops where we warp a dictor onto the probed target for tackling and don't have time to be fucking around off lining and on lining modules all the time.
